HOW TO PREPARE

NEWBORN SESSIONS

• The session will last 1-1.5 hours
• I will give direction about photos throughout the session
• When I arrive I will have a look around the house/yard/veranda etc to find the best areas of natural light - usually the main bedroom, nursery and living areas
• Do some general tidying/decluttering of your home before I arrive and remove anything you don’t want in the photos
• Stick to white/cream/grey or pastel type colours for your bed spread (rather than patterns)
• Feed baby, change nappy and put them in their outfit 20 minutes before I arrive
• Dress baby in a simple, plain (not bright) onesie (with or without shorts).
• Swaddle the baby in a plain swaddle before I arrive to help them go to sleep
• For the parent’s outfits, avoid bold patterns, bright colours, logos and black. Also make sure you aren’t wearing the same colour as each other, the baby’s onesie or swaddle
• If you have a toddler or another child, we will try and photograph them first. Try and make them feel special about the shoot beforehand
• Finally - I have a toddler so have been in the newborn bubble/struggle before. If you need someone to talk to or take a break to feed/cry etc then please go ahead, I totally understand!

FAMILY SESSIONS

• Family sessions will last approx. 1 hr
• I will give direction about photos throughout the session
• Bring toys and props for children
• Try not to focus on the children during the shoot – they will run around and just be themselves which is totally ok!
• Try and relax as much as possible
• Dress children a simple, plain (not bright) clothing
• For the parent’s outfits, avoid bold patterns, bright colours, logos and black. Also make sure you aren’t wearing the same colour as each other or children. Flowy dresses look lovely
• If you have a toddler or another child, we will try and photograph them first. Try and make them feel special about the shoot beforehand
• Finally - I have a toddler, I totally understand how difficult it can be to photograph them late in the day!
